Captain Jason Chambers had a change of opinion after watching the conflict in question on the recent episode of Below Deck Down Under.
Captain Jason is an empathetic and fair captain. So fans can give him a pass for perhaps mis-reading the situation in the galley. He also reflected on how he may have elevated Chef Ben Robinson’s expectations when he told him Alesia Harris was a sous-chef.
Chef Ben Robinson and Alesia Harris did not get along on BDDU
On Season 4, Episode 3 of Below Deck Down under, Alesia resigned from her role as sous chef and moved to the interior department to be a stew. This comes after butting heads with Ben in the galley and bickering on a night out.
Alesia already expressed her frustrations to Captain Jason. However, he asked her to reconsider quitting the galley. To chief stew Daisy Kelliher, the Australian native said, “I’m a little bit disappointed that Alesia can’t just toughen up for a while.”
But to Bravo’s The Daily Dish, she admitted that watching the episode changed his mind completely. Jason explained, “It’s not until I watched the episode that I actually had more empathy and understanding of the situation. At that time, I was like, ‘Come on. Let’s just get into it…’ Looking back now, you can see that she was foreseeing the future. It was not gonna be an easy workplace environment for her.”
“I said, ‘You’ll have a sous chef.’ So, he’s probably coming there with a bit of expectations,” Jason explained to The Daily Dish. “He hasn’t been in this environment for a while, and now he’s got a sous chef that’s not performing, and he’s probably wondering what’s going on there, and he’s probably thinking [there are] hurdles in front of him that have been put there.”
