Season 4 of Below Deck Down Under was off to a rocky start for Captain Jason Chambers. Chef Ben Robinson and Alesia Harris were like oil and water. So, she issued an ultimatum: either she be moved to the interior, or she would quit. Captain Jason had to pivot and switch new stew Ellie Dubaich to the galley.
Of course, Ellie was part of Season 9 of Below Deck Mediterranean. And she wasn’t the easiest crew member to get along with, which raised some eyebrows when Captain Jason brought her aboard. However, Captain Jason was confident about adding Ellie to the crew.
The BDDU stars were late when welcoming guests in this week’s episode
During a recent episode of BDDU, Ellie arrived onboard. According to The Daily Dish, Captain Jason discussed how Ellie and Ben were late to greet the guests during the Below Deck Down Under After Show. It turns out Ben and Ellie were chatting it up in the galley. “Someone’s trying to change the dynamics in the galley, which is a positive,” Captain Jason stated. However, chief stew Daisy Kelliher remarked that the duo’s lateness indicated “a lack of respect” for the crew and captain.
“These little things really irk me. How you start a charter is usually a progression into it,” Captain Jason stated. “And if you have a look at this charter, we start not ready, we’re not a team, we’re lagging behind.”
Meanwhile, the tardy galley crew also weighed in on their mistake. “Ben and I had such a good time in the galley. We completely missed the captain’s call for the guest arrival, which is embarrassing,” Ellie stated. “When you meet someone new, I wanna know about them,” Ben explained. “I need to vet our new opportunities.”
Below Deck Down Under continues Mondays at 8/7c on Bravo. It also streams on Peacock.
