While they haven’t interacted much on screen in Southern Charm Season 11, co-stars Salley Carson and Whitner Slagsvol are currently embroiled in a feud off camera. Salley’s had a rough sophomore season on Southern Charm. She’s earned backlash for acting cringe-worthy with Craig Conover. After he rejected her, Salley got backlash for being overly flirty with Austen Kroll following his breakup.
Whitner, on the other hand, has been well-received by Southern Charm viewers. Let’s face it, it’s not that hard to look good next to Craig, Austen, and Shep Rose. However, Salley keeps insisting viewers don’t know the real Whitner. What’s going on with Salley and Whitner’s feud, and how did it get so bad that Salley wants him off Southern Charm?
How did Salley Carson and Whitner Slagsvol’s feud start?
Throughout Season 11 of Southern Charm, Craig and Austen both found themselves in love triangles. Craig’s love triangle got the most attention, and served as the major storyline for the first half of the season. Salley and Charley Manley fought over Craig and shared late-night hot tub sessions with him.
Meanwhile, Whitner started to charm the audience with his looks, quirky personality, and love for his dog Bacchus. Viewers frequently wondered why none of the girls showed romantic interest in him. In one episode, we saw him ask Charley out on a date. She rejected him in the most polite way.
After that episode, Salley appeared on Watch What Happens Live, with Charley in the audience. One viewer asked why none of the girls are interested in Whitner. Salley said that viewers don’t know the real Whitner yet. This made people wonder if a different side to Whitner would come out later in the season. Whitner himself expressed confusion over the comment on social media. When he appeared on WWHL, he shaded Salley right back. “The season vindicates me,” he responded, “and I don’t look messy the entire season.”
What did Whitner do to “shake” Salley on Southern Charm?
After the WWHL shade, Whitner and Salley seemed cordial enough for him to attend her birthday with the rest of the cast (minus Craig). But in a podcast interview with Not Skinny But Not Fat, Salley revealed the feud only got worse.
Salley claims that, after her comment on WWHL, Whitner has it out for her. She claimed to see text messages he sent about her. Whatever they said, it was bad enough that she refused to hold back how she felt about him anymore. And she was shaken up by it because she saw these texts literally right before the podcast interview! Even host Amanda Hirsch commented on how visibly shook she was.
According to Salley, she started to hear that Whitner was talking badly about her to their fellow castmates. Salley was confused, because she thought they made amends at the Southern Charm Season 11 reunion. She recalled, “Afterwards, I was like, look…I don’t get why we’re beefing. We don’t really have anything against each other.” The whole cast even went out afterwards for Charley’s birthday.
But once she heard he was talking to other castmates about her, which they confirmed, the gloves were off. “I think he’s messing with the wrong girl,” Salley said, “and the only person who should be looking out is him.”
Salley hopes Whitner doesn’t return for Southern Charm Season 12

With that, Salley shared how she really feels about Whitner. “I think he’s an entitled prick,” she said, “I think he reminds me of JT [Thomas] a lot. I don’t think I’m the only one who feels that way.” For those who need a refresher, Salley clashed with JT on Season 10. She accused him of trying to blackmail her.
She said Whitner is on “his high horse” because of the positive feedback. “Like, ‘Ooh, I’m getting all this attention. Everyone loves me. There’s no negative press about me.” And thinks her comment really rubbed Whitner the wrong way because he only had positive fan responses before it. “Everything’s been so positive online,” Salley explained, “So that one negative thing that I said, people are questioning, ‘What’s going on with Whitner?'”
Apparently, she’s not the only one Whitner has a problem with. Salley also thinks that Whitner is starting to go after Austen. Was there more behind that white lie that Austen was his mom’s favorite? Podcast host Amanda called going after Austen “a bad move” and asked, “Whitner, What are you doing?” Regardless, Salley made it clear she doesn’t want to work with Whitner on Southern Charm Season 12. “Well, let’s hope he doesn’t get asked back,” she said.
Southern Charm is available to stream on Peacock.
