Jennifer Garner Is a Better Mom at Home Because of Working With Kids

Jennifer Garner is opening up about the unexpected way her acting career has shaped her parenting. During a candid conversation on a popular podcast, the actress reflected on how working closely with child actors has helped her grow not just professionally, but personally as a mom.

Working with child actors has made Jennifer Garner be a better mom to her kids

The 53-year-old “The Last Thing He Told Me” star recently appeared on the “Not Gonna Lie” hosted by Kylie Kelce. She discussed everything from her beloved rom-com 13 Going on 30 to raising her three children, Samuel, 13, Seraphina, 17, and Violet, 20, whom she shares with ex-husband Ben Affleck.

Garner shared that collaborating with young performers on set has given her valuable insight into her own parenting style. “I love the intimacy of that relationship,” she explained, whether bonding with toddlers or connecting with teenagers. She added that those experiences help her practice patience, communication, and even navigating moments of friction.

One of the biggest parenting realizations she shared was knowing when to stay quiet. Garner admitted that as children grow older, parents aren’t meant to weigh in on everything. “All of a sudden, it’s not on you,” she said, describing the shift that happens as kids gain independence.

Elsewhere in the conversation, Garner also addressed beauty standards and aging. While she has tried Botox in the past, she said she currently has no interest in cosmetic procedures. She also said that she won’t make absolute promises to her children about the future. “I refuse to make that promise because I am me today, and I don’t know how I’m gonna feel,” she said.

The “Alias” alum has also joked that her kids find her “fully cringe”. She admitted she earns zero “cool points” at home, especially when it comes to watching her emotional or romantic scenes onscreen.

Still, if there’s one thing Garner makes clear, it’s that motherhood remains her most meaningful role.
