Summer House fans are rallying around Amanda Batula after she announced her split from Kyle Cooke. It’s been commentary that swivels between wishing the reality TV star the best after watching her frustration in the four-year marriage, and concern about her financial situation.
Amanda and Kyle notably did not sign a prenup before they wed. And Summer House fans are concerned how the financials will play out now. The self-proclaimed DJ founded an alcoholic beverage company, Loverboy, in 2018. In 2022, Kyle revealed that he was $4 million in debt due to a business loan. He’s spoken about losses in his business. Now, Amanda’s fans are questioning whether she will bear any responsibility.
Kyle Cooke’s debt is apparently “from a business loan” before marriage
Amanda gave an interview to Marie Claire, which was published on Tuesday, March 3. She assured fans that she is not liable for “a business loan he took out before we got married.”
“If the business can’t pay it back, then Kyle’s responsible,” the Bravolebrity added. “To my knowledge and his understanding, [the debt] doesn’t involve me in any way, but a prenup would have protected me 100 percent from it.”
Amanda explained that she wanted to address the issue because “everyone’s freaking out about it.” The swimmear designer does appreciate her fans’ concerns. And in introspect, she would have absolutely gotten a prenup.
“Everyone needs a prenup. It doesn’t matter if you make millions of dollars or how in love you are. It’s like health insurance; you get it to protect yourself if something happens,” Amanda opined.
Between 2018 and 2023, Amanda worked full time for her husband’s company as Creative Director at Loverboy. And her association and role within the company may have given the impression that she was closer to the debt than she is.
Amanda reflected, “Prenups are also to avoid being responsible for someone else’s debt.”
