Deadliest Catch Star Todd Meadows’ Mom Speaks Out Against Airing His Death

Deadliest Catch cast member Todd Meadows passed away on February 25. At the time, he was working on the Aleutian Lady. The vessel was in the Bering Sea, which is infamous for its perilous and unforgiving conditions.

Reportedly, Todd fell overboard during “treacherous” conditions at sea. Although crew members were able to pull him from the water 10 minutes after the incident, he was unresponsive. According to Todd’s co-worker, Trey John Green III, “We all did everything we could to save him, and out at sea that’s no easy task.” However, he also claimed that cameras were filming during the tragic accident.

Deadliest Catch will resume filming soon following Todd’s death

The crew was filming for Season 22 of Deadliest Catch. Now, Todd’s loved ones are reacting to reports that the cameras were rolling at the time of Todd’s death. “We don’t want to see any footage from the accident and do not want Discovery to air any of that footage or make money off of our son’s death,” Angela Meadows told TMZ. “We hope they only air good things of Todd on that boat.”

According to Angela, the family requested footage of Todd crabbing aboard the ship to “have the videos for memories.” While Todd’s family is still waiting for the Coast Guard to conclude their investigation, she was told that Todd did not suffer following the heartbreaking accident. “We don’t want to put the blame on anyone, but someone has to take responsibility. We will have justice for Todd,” Angela stated. Both Angela and Todd’s father “want answers” about their son’s death. In addition, Angela hopes that production wasn’t just standing by, capturing her son’s final moments.

Meanwhile, Todd, who was 25 years old, was the father of three children. A GoFundMe account to help his sons has raised over $46,000 as of now.

Deadliest Catch is streaming on Discovery+.
