A close friend of Britney Spears is speaking up for the troubled singer. The mother of two was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) after being pulled over by the California Highway Patrol late on Wednesday evening.
Sean Phillips has known Britney for two decades. He says that he was texting her when she booked early Thursday morning. Despite a lot of negative attention being thrown at her over the years, Sean had mostly good things to say about her.

The Britney Spears being talked about in the media after her arrest is not the same one Sean knows. Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Sean called her arrest “out of character.” He adds that “She is such a great person.” When asked if he messaged her Sean says “Yes, I texted her to ask her if she was ok, and she responded, ‘I’m ok.’
Britney is not the only celebrity that Sean has known personally. He says he knew Michael Jackson, another big star who got his share of negative attention. Sean feels regret for not being there for him. “I’m not going to do that for Britney,” he vowed.
This week’s incident is far from the only time people have been concerned about Britney. Reports suggest police have been to her home over a dozen times in the past two years. Her publicist, Cade Hudson, has said what happened this week is ‘inexcusable” and that she’ll get the help she needs.
On her podcast this week, Megyn Kelly says she believes Britney’s fame is partly to blame for her issues. Britney’s friends are reportedly developing a plan for her recovery.
