There is tragic news to report in the Survivor family. Rex Culpepper, the son of Survivor contestants Monica Culpepper and Brad Culpepper, has passed away. Rex was a former quarterback for Syracuse University. He played for the team for four seasons, from 2017 until 2020.
However, in 2018, Rex battled testicular cancer, which shortened his football season. After aggressive treatment, Rex was declared cancer-free. Sadly, Rex succumbed to injuries he suffered in a dirt bike accident in Florida, passing away on March 14. His fiancée, Savanna Morgan, posted about the love of her life in an Instagram tribute.
Rex Culpepper’s fiancée grieved his death
According to PEOPLE, Rex, who was 28 years old, popped the question just one month before his death. Savanna shared a carousel of photos and videos of Rex and their adventures. She included videos of Rex playing the guitar and doing an impressive backflip. She also included many photos of them together.
“No one expects to meet the love of your life and lose them in only 6 short years after meeting,” Savanna wrote in the lengthy caption. “And one thing about us is that we lived every single day like it was our last. We did every little thing that we set our minds to, between learning new skills and hobbies, and traveling to new places, there was never any free time with us, and not a moment spent apart.”
Savanna continued, “You made six years feel like a lifetime Rexy. You don’t just meet people like Rex all the time. He was one in a billion.” She added, “But seeing how much everyone around him loved him so greatly, makes my heart full. Our story was a good one babe.”
Both of Rex’s parents competed on Survivor. Brad appeared on Survivor: Blood vs Water, along with Rex’s mom, Monica. Meanwhile, Brad nearly won Survivor: Game Changers, while Monica also competed in Survivor: One World.
Survivor 50 continues on CBS every Wednesday at 8/7c.
