Season 17 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta just premiered, and new cast member Pinky Cole wasted no time letting the world know that she’s “that girl” and has been for quite some time. Some fans were already familiar with her viral restaurant, Slutty Vegan.
Before Pinky started filming RHOA, Slutty Vegan endured some highly publicized financial setbacks. They had to undergo a major restructuring, and Pinky temporarily lost control of the business. She eventually bought it back and regained control, and apparently, those bumps in the road inspired her to do reality TV.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast has expanded

Pinky recently spoke with PopCulture.com and explained why Housewives felt like the right next step in her career. As the headlines about her business spiraled online, she felt inspired to become even more of a public figure. Bravo called her at the right time.
“The timing couldn’t have been better,” Pinky said. “This was right after I declared that I filed an assignment for the benefit of creditors, and to be totally transparent with you, my business is all out in the streets anyway, so I said, at this point, I’m an open book, and my testimony could really save somebody else’s life.”
She continued, “And if I utilize a platform like this one and it’s an opportunity to connect with some other successful women who are also navigating life and business and family, I know that this could be impactful and successful.”
Shortly after Bravo announced Pinky as one of RHOA’s newest peach holders, she encountered more financial setbacks. She filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. However, she has reiterated on social media multiple times that this isn’t a sign of her being broke. She’s just reorganizing, and she still believes that joining RHOA was “one of the best decisions” she’s ever made, even if it does result in a little extra scrutiny online.
Pinky said, “I learned a lot about what it means to be a part and amongst a friend group, especially when you have somebody like me who’s been so independent for so long.”
The Real Housewives of Atlanta airs on Sundays at 9/8c on Bravo. You can stream it the next day on Peacock.
