Donald Trump Explains Why He Deleted AI Image of Himself as Jesus

President Donald Trump deleted an AI-generated image that likened him to Jesus from his Truth Social account. This came after the post caused widespread “confusion.” However, he denies it was meant to depict him as a messianic figure.

Donald Trump thought he was a ‘doctor’ in AI image

“Normally I don’t like doing that,” Donald Trump told CBS News on April 13 regarding the post removal, “but I didn’t want to have anybody be confused. People were confused.”

The AI image in question featured the president clad in billowy white and red robes. He was seen placing one hand on a man’s forehead in a hospital bed. Meanwhile, a heavenly light radiated from his other hand. While many social media users interpreted the rendering as a depiction of Trump as Jesus, he insisted the intended theme was strictly medical.

Trump told reporters earlier Monday that the AI image “was me as a doctor and it had to do with the Red Cross.” He doubled down on this explanation later that evening. “You had the Red Cross right there, you had, you know, medical people surrounding me, and I was like the doctor, you know, as a little fun playing the doctor and making people better,” Trump said.

The photo drew backlash from many, such as conservative activist Riley Gaines, who wrote on X that “a little humility would serve him well” and stated, “God shall not be mocked.” Trump, however, dismissed the notion that Gaines prompted the deletion. “I didn’t listen to Riley Gaines. I’m not a big fan of Riley, actually,” he said.

Despite the pointed remark, Gaines shared she would continue to support the president’s agenda. “The truth social post missed the mark. It’s now deleted. Amazing!” she wrote. Gaines added, “I want to spend eternity in a real place called Heaven. I’d love for Trump to be there too. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.”
