Meghan Markle Shrugs off Royal Title on Australia Tour — Report

As Meghan Markle and Prince Harry continue their high-profile Australia tour, their interactions with the public are drawing attention. The visit, which combines charitable work with public engagements, has been closely followed by both fans and critics.

Much of the focus remains on their outreach efforts, but certain reported moments have sparked conversation online. Among them is a claim about Markle’s choice to downplay her royal title during the visit.

Meghan Markle reportedly asked locals to call her ‘Meg’ on Australia tour

During a public appearance at the Australian National Veterans’ Art Museum, Meghan Markle reportedly set aside formalities when speaking with locals. According to claims, when asked how she preferred to be addressed, she responded by saying, “Call me Meg.”

The moment, as described in a report by The Sun, was seen as a departure from traditional royal customs, where titles are typically used in public settings. Meanwhile, Prince Harry is also said to have taken a relaxed stance. He reportedly told people they could address him “however you like.”

The couple’s visit includes a series of engagements across Australia, including a stop at a children’s hospital in Melbourne. There, they met patients, spoke with families, and took part in activities such as garden therapy sessions. Markle was also seen interacting closely with children, hugging a young patient and thanking her for a handmade welcome sign.

Beyond hospital visits, the Duchess of Sussex reportedly spent time at a women’s support center, where she helped serve food and spoke with guests. According to accounts, she later joined them at a table and continued conversations in a more informal setting.

The trip is also said to include other appearances, such as events focused on wellbeing and mental health. However, some aspects of the visit have drawn criticism, particularly around the cost of certain experiences tied to the tour.

At the same time, insiders have suggested the tour could play a larger role. One source claimed it may act as a “blueprint” for future engagements in the United Kingdom, potentially shaping how the couple approaches similar visits moving forward.
