Nancy Guthrie’s Daughter Annie Defended by Ex-FBI Agent

Annie Guthrie is allegedly not to blame for what happened to her mom. Former FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer is coming to her defense amid all the public scrutiny surrounding the daughter of Nancy Guthrie. The 84-year-old mother has been missing since February 1, and there is still no sign of her.

Annie was the last known person to see her alive, having dinner with her in Tucson, Arizona, on January 31. Many are pointing the finger at her and her husband, Tommaso Cioni, for Nancy’s mysterious disappearance.

Jennifer believes the scrutiny surrounding Annie is unfair. The former investigator notes that “A lot of people are saying she’s a killer, she abducted her mom or had her abducted.” Given her and Tommaso’s stable lifestyle, though, Jennifer doesn’t see a clear financial motive for either.

Annie works in marketing and publicity, teaches writing and poetry, and creates her own custom jewellery. Meanwhile, Tommaso is a middle school physics teacher. Jealousy over her sister Savannah’s fame as co-host of the Today Show is another suggestion some have made about Annie. Jennifer calls this a bunch of “Baloney!”

While no suspects have been caught in Nancy’s alleged kidnapping, there’s been a theory that Annie and Tommaso are responsible. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said in February that he understands the interest in the two.

Despite some defending Annie, questions about her have persisted. Some of this is because her vehicle was initially taken into custody. At the same time, her home was investigated by police. Early into this investigation, a journalist labelled her husband as a prime suspect.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has said that Nancy took an Uber to Annie’s nearby home for dinner on January 31 and was later dropped off by Tommaso. A local Sheriff confirmed that no one in the family is a suspect.
