It’s time for your Southern Hospitality Season 4 recap! This week, Joe and Maddi can’t get on the same page, Justin wants out of the drama, and the tension between Team Mia and Team Jordyn rises. Here’s everything that happened in Southern Hospitality Season 4, Episode 7: “Sip Happens.”

What Went Down on Southern Hospitality Season 4 Episode 7?

As we begin this episode, it’s Joe and Maddi in the hot seat. Joe and Maddi haven’t made up after their fight. They’ve been on the outs for several days now.

Joe notes that this is their first major fight, and he’s bummed. But Maddi can’t gloss over the fact that Joe lied to her about working when he was at another bar. Joe says he never meant to lie. Maybe he didn’t update her on his whereabouts all night, but he wasn’t sneaking around. She had his location the entire time.

Meanwhile, they aren’t the only pair on the rocks. Jordyn is still upset about Justin. And Lake isn’t helping. She asks Jordyn how she feels about “the devil” (aka Justin), and Jordyn says everyone will eventually learn who he really is.

Justin, on the other hand, feels he was very upfront and clear with Jordyn about what they were. He doesn’t know where all the drama is coming from, and now he wants to cut all ties.

Magazine covers and Michols’ disappointment

Michols’ agent has landed the digital cover of an online LGBTQ magazine. He wants to branch out into modeling, so this could be a big first step for him. He arrives at the shoot pumped and shares that he’s going to call his mom later and surprise her.

It’s been a rocky road for Michols and his mom, and they’ve had a tumultuous relationship for the past five years. But he reveals that over the past summer, they’ve been spending more time together. He is hoping she can be proud of this shoot.

However, his joy is short-lived because when he tries to FaceTime his mom from the shoot, she doesn’t want to answer. She tells him it’s because she doesn’t want to be on camera, but he’s feeling pretty let down and disappointed.

Some facial spoiling, beauty treatments, and confessions for TJ and Joe

While Michols is kickstarting his modeling career, TJ and Joe are trying to maintain their model-like skin.

They go for skin mapping. TJ’s skin age is 32-34 (not bad, as he is actually 34). 29-year-old Joe, on the other hand, has a skin age of 24. Not bad at all. Joe attributes this to his Italian heritage and his olive oil consumption.

Joe opens up to TJ about his fight with Maddi. He feels attacked when Maddi goes after him for his drinking, when he feels he doesn’t drink as much as he used to. He admits it’s challenging dating a sober girl, but he feels he is trying to be better about his partying ways. The fact that he doesn’t understand why Maddi has trust issues is surprising, considering what she’s been through.

TJ tells Joe that he has changed a lot and shouldn’t feel too guilty about their fight.

Monthly hospitality events and some tension with Lake and Molly

Lake is hanging out at Leva’s new business, Zach’s Daiqs (frozen daiquiris), because Leva has asked her to set up a hospitality Paint and Sip event to draw in more people.

Molly comes over to help plan the event. It’s all going well until they eventually bring up Justin and Mia at Edisto.

Lake reveals how bad Jordyn felt and that Molly wasn’t being a good friend to her roommate. Molly says that she has no recollection of Justin and Mia hooking up at the lake, and it’s true because she was fast asleep when it happened. But Lake insists she was involved in that kiss.

Molly is a little miffed because she feels Lake needs to mind her own business. Lake tells her to tell Mia not to go for Justin. Molly tells Lake not to tell her what to do about her friends. Uh-oh.

Julia is back and keeping Maddi anchored

Maddi’s sobriety sponsor, Julia, is back! She’s providing Maddi with a much-needed sounding board for her complicated feelings about her fight with Joe. The two talk about misconceptions about sobriety and how hard it can be for Maddi to be around Joe when he uses alcohol to forget his problems.

Julia tells her that’s normal. Sober people don’t always have their feelings on lock. To help her with her emotions, Maddi journals, writes letters she won’t send, and makes PowerPoints (yes, we remember!).

Maddi says that she can be around people who drink, but sometimes, with Joe, she feels triggered. Her biggest fear is perpetuating the cycle since her parents were drinkers while she was growing up. Maddi sees a future with Joe, but wants to break the pattern. She doesn’t want that for her future kids.

Once again, MVP Julia keeps Maddi anchored and provides her with a safe space. Julia recommends that Maddi seriously talk to Joe about their future because you can’t “hold your dreams and your drink in the same hand.”

Sundays with Sir Weiners on King Street

It’s the second Sunday on King Street, and TJ and Mia have set up a Sir Weiners stand. Justin, Brad, and Michols come out to help them.

Meanwhile, at Republic, Lake is inviting the girls to her Sip and Paint and says it will be fun and drama-free (famous last words). Emmy asks if Mia is coming, and they make some jokes about Mia’s “fake titties.”

And speaking of Mia’s chest, Lake is making some IG deductions and shows Maddi and Bella a post Justin made on his stories. He took a photo of his food, and in the background, you can see the outline of a woman and her hair. Lake is 100% sure it’s Mia’s “fake titties and split ends.”

Michols asks Mia and Justin if they went on a date, and they deny it, even if it’s true.

The Sip and Paint is happening, and it’s a big success. Lots of people are arriving, including Jordyn, Maddi, and Bella. Leva is loving the event that Lake put together and sees more of these events in her future.

Mia shows up, and things get a bit weird. Molly pulls Mia aside and asks her to talk to Jordyn so it won’t be awkward, but Mia is not willing to say he did something wrong because she feels she didn’t. If anything, she feels Jordyn’s anger should be directed at Justin.

Mia eventually sits down with Emmy, Lake, Bella, and Maddi. Mia calls out Lake’s strange behavior, and Lake says she isn’t trying to start anything, but says Mia hasn’t apologized to Jordyn. This blows Molly’s mind because she feels Lake is just stirring the pot and talking sh*t.

Mia says if Jordyn has an issue, it should be with Justin, and that she doesn’t need all these backups to have a simple discussion. Lake says she isn’t a backup, she’s just a good friend. And Lake thinks Molly isn’t a good friend. As it turns out, Lake doesn’t like Molly in general and was forced (by Leva) to ask her to help with the event.

It all goes to hell at this point. So to recap, Jordyn is sad about Justin but didn’t really say anything, whereas Lake, who is not dating Justin, got into it on Jordyn’s behalf. Is Lake being a good friend or stirring the pot too much?

Southern Hospitality airs Thursday nights at 9/8c on Bravo. It streams on Peacock.
