Donald Trump posts about Israel and Lebanon

Donald Trump took to Truth Social to share significant news about the Israel and Lebanon situation, revealing that potential talks could be held between their leaders. He said, “Trying to get a little breathing room between Israel and Lebanon. It has been a long time since the two leaders have spoken, like 34 years.” He concluded his post with, “Nice.”

This post comes amid the reported “encouraging talks” between the Israeli and Lebanese envoys in Washington, D.C. The New York Times stated that while no certain commitments were made for additional talks, Israel did make a promise to stop its military campaign against the Iran-backed militant group in Lebanon. Rubio detailed the talks as “bringing a permanent end to 20 or 30 years of Hezbollah’s influence in this part of the world.” Despite the ceasefire talks, the attacks have reportedly continued on the coastal highway south of Beirut, near the towns of Saadiyat and Jiyeh, per the BBC.

Earlier, a senior US administration official claimed that Trump would welcome talks between Israel and Lebanon to ease the conflict. The president would welcome the end of hostilities in Lebanon as part of a peace agreement between Israel and Lebanon. The United States wants to see a durable peace but did not demand an immediate ceasefire, and negotiations between the US and Iran are not linked to ongoing peace talks between Israel and Lebanon,” the representative said.
