Donald Trump Has ‘Never Heard’ of a ‘Corner Store’

Don’t expect to run into Donald Trump at your local bodega anytime soon. Speaking about finances at a tax event this week, the president admitted that he had “never heard” of a “corner store.”

President Trump was confused by the term at a Tax Week event

To recap, Trump is currently pushing his One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which includes a “no tax on tips policy.” The policy is intended to provide tax breaks and larger tax refunds for tipped workers, and at a roundtable in Las Vegas this week (AKA Tax Week), he spoke about exactly that.

During the talk, however, the president revealed he doesn’t know what a corner store is.

“[The bill has] slashed taxes on millions of Americans, small businesses, including restaurants, dry cleaners, and corner stores,” he explained, before pausing and asking: “What is a corner store?”

“I’ve never heard that term,” the president went on, confused. “I know what a corner store is, but I’ve never heard it described.”

“A corner store,” he repeated. “Who the hell wrote that, please?”

Unsurprisingly, Trump’s comment did not go unnoticed by critics. Taking to Instagram shortly afterwards, Don Lemon – who was arrested earlier this year for reporting at an ICE protest – said: “Trump is from NYC and doesn’t know what a corner store is.”

“Isn’t he from Queens?! WTF,” someone agreed in the comment section.

“He’s so privileged, never in his life has he ever needed to step foot in one,” another person added. “The disconnect between him and the average person is astronomical.”

“Too much privilege. And not enough education,” echoed someone else.

A fourth person chimed in: “Wait til he hears the word bodega.”
