Previously on Real Housewives of Rhode Island, Alicia shared her doll collection, and her reasons for not marrying Billy. Liz threw a Studio 54 themed birthday party for Gerry. Jo-Ellen and Gary confronted Rulla and Brian for threatening her job. Brian couldn’t even deny if his affair is ongoing. Speaking of ongoing, Kelsey advised Liz against sharing a moment with Gerry and Dino because of the ongoing rumors. Liz screamed at her and revealed Kelsey has a past with Dino as well!
What happened on Real Housewives of Rhode Island Season 1 Episode 4?
This week on Real Housewives of Rhode Island Season 1 Episode 4, “De-Railed Divas,” Kelsey reveals what happened with Dino. Alicia admits Liz can be scary. Rosie stirs the pot by sharing this. Alicia goes off on Rosie, and their fight shocks the entire group. As always, the Housewives casually drop gossip that changes our perceptions of everything so far!
What happened between Kelsey and Dino?
Dolores stops by Liz’s home – and, yes, I thought it was Liz walking in at first. They sage the table where Jo-Ellen and Rulla had their big confrontation. Dolores’ heart breaks for Rulla, who is holding onto her marriage for dear life. But Liz is frustrated by Rulla’s constant denial and blaming other people, which is only making the situation worse.
Liz feels awful about screaming at Kelsey. She blames it on being drunk while Dolores calls it a “menopause moment.” Liz also reveals that Kelsey had a fling with Dino in the past. She wants to apologize, but thinks Kelsey owes her one too.
Later on, Kelsey meets Liz to help her clear out the boat after Gerry sold it. While Liz has nothing but praise for Dino, Kelsey had a very different experience. They had a thing ten years ago, when she and boyfriend #1 weren’t exclusive (were they ever?). It was at a very vulnerable and difficult time in her life. Now, Kelsey has “PTSD” from the fling. After she ended it, Dino would show up at places she’d go, and get mad at her for talking to other guys. Yikes!
For now, the BFFs put their different opinions on Dino aside and make up.
Ashley’s favorite beach doesn’t impress the RHORI ladies much
Once again, Ashley finds herself as RHORI’s outsider. This week, she invites the ladies to her favorite beach. They show up looking like Malibu Barbie, while she describes her look as “a mom who maybe tried a bit today.” Alicia is horrified by the location. She prefers her beach club.
Alicia also brings “pizza chips,” seemingly mini pizzas without cheese. It’s apparently something her grandfather, the owner of Rhode Island staple Superior Bakery, invented.
She doesn’t just bring pizza chips- she also brings goss. Alicia heard that Brian cheated on his first wife– her Spanish teacher- with Rulla! Alicia hopes it’s not true, because she loves her Spanish teacher.
She also says she’s “about to climax” because she needs more information on Kelsey and Liz’s fight. Alicia claims that Liz has always been a hothead and you have to walk on eggshells around her. She even calls her “scary.”
Jo-Ellen’s sister asked for what?
Jo-Ellen is off on a trip to Chicago this week (Rulla is thrilled). Her sister Jen helps Gary with the kids when Jo-Ellen’s out of town. And we get more insight into that dynamic. Jo-Ellen knows they flirt but isn’t worried. She says they never had sex in high school, he maybe got to second base. But also, if Jen isn’t get married by 45, she wants Gary to be her sperm donor! Jo-Ellen refuses.
Jo-Ellen and her sister fought constantly growing up. But they became close in 2010, after their father passed away. Now, they’re best friends.
Alicia’s aunts give tough love
Alicia invites some ladies over to her house when her mom and aunts stop by. They bring a ridiculous amount of food, claiming it’s an Italian thing (can confirm). They’re all thrilled to see Liz. Her sister has been best friends with Alicia’s mom for decades. Rulla meets them for the first time, but she knows Billy’s family well, because they patronize her parents’ jewelry store. Ashley knows Alicia’s mom and aunt because they go to the same aesthetician. She knows one of them doesn’t drive – just like Alicia!
Liz says Billy needs to put Alicia’s name on the house and give her part of Pizza Momma. One of the aunts says that won’t happen until they’re married. Alicia admits she’s been a “runaway bride.” She’s still wounded by her dad’s abandonment and doesn’t want that to happen again.
The conversation turns to Rulla’s marriage. She tries to downplay the affair, but Alicia’s aunts ask if she really wants to spend forever looking over her shoulder. This gets through Rulla’s defenses. Alicia’s mom says she prays Rulla hurts Brian back!
Why is everyone trying to convince Rosie to have kids?
I don’t know why Rosie’s storyline seems to be people trying to convince her to have kids. Rosie likes kids – she’s obsessed with her nephew! But she is always relieved to leave them with their parents. She and Rich (who has a million jobs/hobbies) are far too busy. And while they tried a little before marriage, she realized it was never her dream. They also never seriously discussed it, which seems misguided.
However, Ashley says she’s become her mother, who always told people they needed to have kids. But she also proves Rosie’s right that kids need all your attention when her son plays with her earring in her face as she’s trying to talk. Personally, I think everyone should let Rosie decide what she wants.
I hope this isn’t her season-long storyline. Especially when there are scandalous rumors about her that are much more interesting…
Messy Rosie
Rosie hosts this week’s main event at Rhode Island Rail Explorers, which is a multi-person bicycle on train tracks. On the way there, she reveals she had colitis. And claims it lead to her leaving the job at Channel 10. In a confessional, Kelsey calls BS. Rumor has it, Rosie was fired from the station because she had an affair with one of the higher-ups! I can’t keep track of all these affair rumors!
Alicia isn’t a fan of the activity – her favorite exercise is “Janes Fonda.” Rulla brings a shaker of tequila for the ride. She’s pretty fun when she’s not weighed down by Brian. Nosey Rosie asks Liz what she thinks of Ashley. Liz says Ashley didn’t even look her in the eye at the Fourth of July party. Rosie says Liz can be scary. Liz doesn’t like being called that, but people do jump when she comes around the corner!
After the ride, Rosie takes Ashley aside and shares what Liz said. Ashley insists she’s not rude, just shy.
Welcome to Rhode Island, b*tch!
Alicia goes on an emotional rollercoaster in the episode’s last few minutes. First, she brings up her issues with Billy. She role plays asking him for respect and the chance to work with Pizza Mama, also mentioning that sometimes, she wants to watch Love Island instead of having sex. Alicia starts to cry during the exercise. Quoting Love Island’s Amaya Papaya, she calls herself a “sensitive gangster.” Rulla advocates for Alicia, who is jealous of Rulla’s financial independence.
Then Rosie and Ashley admit they can be scared of Liz. Rosie claims Alicia said Liz has always been scary and will never change. Alicia gets pissed. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” she warns. She then tells Liz she just said that’s how she is, and Rosie interjects, “you just admitted you said it.”
“Don’t flip sh*t,” Alicia rants, “don’t put words in my mouth cause guess what, you don’t know me like that. Once you flip sh*t I’ll never see you the same. Slow your roll, you’re not hot. Now I know who you really are.” Liz says it’s alright, but Alicia calls Rosie “a f*cking troll.” Liz feels betrayed. Rosie says she didn’t do anything, but Liz says she “f*cked” her. She yells, “Welcome to Rhode Island, b*tch, this is how we roll!”
Alicia shows why she’s Rhode Island’s resident flip-flopper
Alicia continues to rant that Rosie is “f*cking thirsty b*tch, so thirsty it’s scary” and calls her a “whore.” She pours her drink out and storms off. Rulla walks with her to calm her down. But when Rosie starts to defend herself, Alicia turns around and says, “you just did the most grossest thing. Thank you for showing me your cards.” Dolores points out that Liz isn’t even upset, but Alicia says she hates people who do this, who are “trolls and snake eyes.”
Liz takes Alicia aside and says this is how she felt at the disco party. She acted out and regretted it. Then Alicia and Rosie agree to talk. Alicia says if Rosie is sorry, she can forgive her. Next thing you know, they’re hugging! Alicia warned us she’s a flip-flopper!
