Kash Patel is firing back at a magazine publication and its writer. An article published on Friday accuses him of having a drinking problem. The article says this could pose a significant threat to the nation’s security. The story was written by Sarah Fitzpatrick of The Atlantic.
For his part, Kash is not taking these allegations well. His legal team is suing Sarah and the magazine, seeking $250 million in damages over that article.
The FBI director denies all allegations in the article

During his career as FBI Director, Kash has faced his share of harsh criticism. These allegations of drinking, though, were a step too far in his eyes. In an interview with Reuters, Kash said, “The Atlantic’s story is a lie.” He adds that they knew the truth before running the story, but instead, “they chose to print falsehoods.”
Despite the lawsuit, The Atlantic isn’t backing down. In a statement, they say they stand by their reporting on the story and call the case against them a “meritless lawsuit.” The White House, the Department of Justice and Kash all denied the allegations. The article even includes an alleged statement from the FBI Director saying, “Print it, all false, I’ll see you in court.”
Reports of Kash being a little rowdy have come up before. He got plenty of backlash for celebrating with the US men’s hockey team in February in the locker room. The team were having a few drinks after they’d beaten Canada to capture the Olympic gold medal.
The lawsuit against Sarah and The Atlantic claims that the publication ignored the FBI’s denials and failed to respond to a Friday letter from Kash’s lawyer, Jesse Binnall. The legal team at The Atlantic wants more time to address the 19 allegations that Sarah reportedly told the FBI’s press office she would publish. The lawsuit claims the article was malicious.
