Call Her Daddy’s Alex Cooper is not having a great time of late. Not only has she been caught up in major online beef with some of the biggest names in podcasting, but now her husband has been accused of “frequently yelling” at her company’s staff.

Need a quick 101? Here’s goes! Since departing Dave Portnoy’s Barstool firm, Alex launched her own production company, Unwell. She moved her own podcast – Call Her Daddy – over to the network, and it also produces popular shows such as Boyfriend Material with Harry Jowsey and Extra Dirty with Hallie Batchelder.
But, despite Unwell’s podcasts being a hit with listeners, Alex’s company has been at the center of claims about its allegedly toxic work environment.
Insiders at Unwell recently told Bloomberg that there’s a high staff turnover rate. In the past year, the company’s head of brand marketing, head of network, and chief growth officer have all left their roles. Sources say this is, in part, due to the behavior of Matt Kaplan, who is Alex’s husband and the co-chief executive officer of Trending Media.
Matt and Alex co-founded Trending Media in 2023. It is the parent company for the Unwell Network as well as his production company, ACE Entertainment.
Per Bloomberg’s report, Matt has “earned a reputation for frequently yelling at staff members.” As a result, some employees have reportedly threatened to quit the network. But Matt has been accused of threatening to blacklist them from other jobs.
In one alleged incident, Matt screamed at workers on the set of Alex’s YouTube show Unwell Winter Games. This reportedly caused a crew member to burst into tears.
Alex and Matt – who have been married since 2024 – are yet to speak publicly on the claims.
