Kimora Lee Simmons’ Estranged Husband Tim Leissner Files for Divorce After 12 Years of Marriage

Life in the fab lane just got a little messy. Kimora Lee Simmons is headed for another divorce after her husband, Tim Leissner, filed paperwork to make their split official after several years of living apart.

The news comes as Tim sits in prison over an embezzlement scheme, and according to the court docs, he filed right before he started his sentence.

Tim Leissner actually filed for divorce back in February

If you watched Kimora’s return to reality TV on Kimora: Back in the Fab Lane, then you probably heard her talking about her situationship with Tim. The two have been married for 12 years, but have been estranged since 2022. His legal troubles likely had a lot to do with that.

In 2018, Tim, a former Goldman Sachs banker, pled guilty to stealing billions of dollars from the Malaysian government and was hit with a two-year prison sentence. Apparently, he wanted to make their breakup official before surrendering himself to prison.

According to court documents reviewed by E! News, Tim signed paperwork to initiate their divorce just two days before he started his two-year prison sentence in February. The documents were then filed on April 20.

In the divorce filing, Tim cited the reason for their split as “irreconcilable differences.” He requested joint custody of their 11-year-old son Wolfe.

Tim said he wants spousal support from Kimora and asked the court to terminate her ability to receive alimony. He also wants his wife to pay his legal fees.

Tim’s monetary requests come after getting hit with a significant financial blow in his criminal case. As part of his plea deal, he forfeited $43 million and his “shares of stock valued at more than $200 million,” according to the U.S. Department of Justice. Had they divorced earlier in their relationship, this may have played out much differently for everyone.
