Kimora Lee Simmons and Tim Leissner’s Custody Battle Takes a Stunning Turn

Kimora Lee Simmons has taken an unexpected position in her divorce from Tim Leissner. New court filings show the fashion mogul wants her estranged husband to receive primary custody of their 11-year-old son, Wolfe.

The request differs sharply from Leissner’s original filing. It also adds another twist to the couple’s long-running split.

According to TMZ, Simmons agreed that “irreconcilable differences” ended the marriage. However, she rejected Leissner’s custody proposal and instead asked the court to grant him primary legal and physical custody of Wolfe.

The filing also revealed major disagreements over money. Simmons asked the court to block Leissner from collecting spousal support. She also requested spousal support for herself and asked that he pay her legal fees.

The custody request stands in contrast to Leissner’s original petition. TMZ reported that he asked for joint legal and physical custody when he filed for divorce. He also requested spousal support and asked the court to terminate Simmons’ ability to collect alimony.

Simmons and Leissner married in 2014 and legally separated in 2022. Leissner filed for divorce in April after signing the paperwork in February.

The former Goldman Sachs executive pleaded guilty in 2018 for his role in the 1MDB financial scandal. According to the publication, he entered a federal prison in Pennsylvania shortly after filing for divorce. Officials expect him to remain there until late September 2027.

Simmons’ latest filing also surprised fans because of comments she made just months ago. In a December interview with PEOPLE, she described herself as the “primary parent” to her children.

Along with Wolfe, Simmons shares daughters Ming and Aoki with ex-husband Russell Simmons. She also shares son Kenzo with actor Djimon Hounsou and has spoken publicly about raising a non-biological son as part of her blended family.

The court will now consider the competing custody and financial requests before moving the divorce forward.
