Rob and Michele Reiner’s Son Jake Breaks Silence on How He Learned of Parents’ Murder

Jake Reiner is opening up about the surreal news he got months ago. The oldest son of Rob and Michele Reiner shared an essay online about how he learned about their tragic deaths. His parents were found stabbed to death in the Brentwood home, on December 14.

Romy, Jake’s sister, was the one who found the parents dead and shared the unpleasant news with him. He admits to experiencing shock and heartbreak, as well as anger at the time.

Losing your parents in the way Jake did was a bitter pill to swallow. In an essay on his Substack account titled The center of my life Jake shares how he learned of his parents’ deaths. “I was in Union Station at a celebration of life for one of my best friends, Christian Anderson, who died in October.”

That was when he got the call that Rob had died, with Romy telling him minutes later about Michele’s passing. Upon hearing this, he left Union Station, getting in a Lyft for a 45-minute ride to the west side, which he called “unendurable.”

Jake says that he couldn’t focus on anything except getting to his childhood home and seeing his sister. He says that he now feels “robbed of so many things.” Among them are his parents seeing him wed, having kids and his parents also seeing him accomplish career goals. “This truly is my living nightmare,” said Jake.

In his heartfelt post, he briefly references his brother Nick, who is on trial for murder in his parents’ deaths. He mentions that Nick is “at the center” of this tragedy. He adds that they lost more than half of their family on December 14. In March, it was reported that Jake and Romy had cut ties with Nick. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
