Donald Trump Ties Gala Shooting to Urgency for White House Ballroom Plan

Donald Trump has called for the immediate completion of the White House ballroom plan. This urgency comes after the recent WHCD shooting scare. The President insists that the project will offer better security and protection.

Donald Trump pushes for ballroom plan after shooting incident

Donald Trump has doubled down on the 400-million-dollar White House ballroom plan following the shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday night. The President has stressed the project’s urgency and significance, citing security concerns. He penned his argument in a Truth Social post on Sunday morning following the ordeal.

“What happened last night is exactly the reason that our great Military, Secret Service, Law Enforcement and, for different reasons, every President for the last 150 years, have been DEMANDING that a large, safe, and secure Ballroom be built ON THE GROUNDS OF THE WHITE HOUSE,” Trump wrote.

The POTUS further stated that the incident, “would never have happened with the Militarily Top Secret Ballroom currently under construction at the White House.” He added, “It cannot be built fast enough! While beautiful, it has every highest level security feature there is plus, there are no rooms sitting on top for unsecured people to pour in, and is inside the gates of the most secure building in the World, The White House.”

Trump’s Truth Social post comes shortly after he had mentioned the ballroom project in a press briefing following the incident. Speaking with reporters after returning to the White House from the WHCD, he stated, “I didn’t want to say this, but this is why we have to have all of the attributes of what we’re planning at the White House.” The President said that the project is “actually a larger room, and it’s a much more secure. It’s got – it’s drone-proof, it’s bulletproof glass.”

Last week, the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia ruled that the construction of the ballroom may resume temporarily until the next hearing on June 5, 2026 (via The Hill).
