During this, he spoke about how the past prominent figures from both countries would be shocked to see how the earlier enmity has now been converted into a respected friendship. He also claimed that his mother raised him to respect the monarchy and that she also liked King Charles.

During the welcome ceremony, Trump reflected on the US and the UK’s growing relationship while sharing details on his mother’s respect and admiration for the Crown. He said, “If John Adams or George Washington or the King’s fifth-great-grandfather could see that sight, they might be absolutely shocked, but probably only for a moment. Surely they would be delighted that the wounds of war healed into the most cherished friendship.”
He revealed that his mother loved the royal family and that he had also revealed this fact to King Charles earlier. He added that his mother had deep admiration for the queen and that she would be glued to the screen just to watch any ceremony that involved her.
Revealing that his mother liked King Charles, he elaborated, “I also remember her saying, very clearly, ‘Charles, look, young Charles. He’s so cute. My mother had a crush on Charles, can you believe it? I wonder what she’s thinking right now,” (via PEOPLE).
These remarks come amid a recent report unveiling a potential connection between Trump and the British monarch. According to it, the duo are 15th cousins and linked to a common ancestor, the Scottish nobleman John Stewart, the 3rd Earl of Lennox. Trump also took to Truth Social recently to react to the news of him being connected to the UK monarch. “Wow, that’s nice. I’ve always wanted to live in Buckingham Palace!!! I’ll talk to the King and Queen about this in a few minutes!!!” he wrote.
