Amaya “Papaya” Espinal, a fan favorite from Love Island USA, had no qualms signing up for Love Island: Beyond the Villa. She wasn’t worried about reuniting with her ex-boyfriend, Bryan Arenales, because she is very focused on herself and considers her time with Bryan a closed chapter.
Amaya says it wasn’t a “difficult decision” to reunite with Bryan
Amaya was a big fan favorite during her time on Love Island. When she and Bryan were matched, fans thought it was a perfect pair, and they won the whole shebang. Unfortunately, it didn’t last, and they split up not long after the show amidst rumors of infidelity.
With such a messy breakup, it might be awkward for Amaya to see him again, but she shared that it wasn’t a difficult decision to reunite with her ex.
“Honestly, it wasn’t as much of a difficult decision for me, just because I’m very focused on my own path,” Amaya shared with Us Weekly. “I know when the chapters are closed and when the past is the past. I’m very mature, and his presence doesn’t really bother me, you know? We’re both, like, human beings. He’s on his own path. I’m on my own path.”
Plus, she admitted that she thought it would be good to get some closure on what happened after Love Island.
“I feel like the audience also deserved to see that conversation and see what happened because they witnessed our journey unfold,” she explained. “And it felt good to be able to have a mature conversation between two individuals and say, ‘Hey, even though we didn’t work out, I wish you the best.’”
And that’s all she had to say about where she stands with Bryan today. He is no longer a major focus in her life. “I wish him the best, and I’m just focused on myself,” she said. “That chapter is closed. But this is a new chapter.”
