Donald Trump is furious with ABC’s late-night host, Jimmy Kimmel, after the latter made a parody of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner last week. In the latest war of words between the two, the POTUS called Jimmy a “lowlife.”
He also took aim at Jimmy’s employers at ABC, saying they are “putting themselves in great jeopardy” by supporting the comedian. On Jimmy Kimmel Live! last week, the host called First Lady Melania “an expectant widow” days before the shooting at the correspondents’ dinner. The President believes Jimmy’s words were a call to violence.
Trump says he wants no apology from Jimmy Kimmel
Trump is baffled by ABC’s support for Jimmy. Speaking on The Record with Greta Van Susteren, he said that Jimmy “shouldn’t be on television.” He believes that the ABC host doesn’t get good ratings and isn’t funny. The President adds that he is a lowlife whether he apologizes or not. The real estate mogul alleges that the Emmy Award winner focuses his time and energy on bashing him, his family and Republicans among others.
In the aftermath of Saturday’s shooting, the POTUS blasted Jimmy on his Truth Social, calling on ABC to terminate him immediately. It doesn’t sound like he’ll get his way on this one, however. Insiders say that the network is backing their late-night host despite the controversy.
What’s going on at ABC right now is anything but a joke in the President’s eyes. He mentioned a lawsuit involving journalist George Stephanopoulos. That matter was settled when the network paid an estimated $15 million in charitable contributions to Trump’s Presidential library. The lawsuit stemmed from George’s inaccurate reporting that the POTUS was found liable for allegedly raping E. Jean Carroll, which was not the case.
Jimmy and Trump have been exchanging verbal blows for months. ABC was previously praised by the POTUS for suspending Jimmy in September amid his Charlie Kirk comments. The FCC is reportedly looking into ABC, though they say there’s no White House influence involved.
