There’s no love lost between Donald Trump and Jimmy Kimmel. The two have seemingly been at odds for months, and Trump appears to have had enough. The latest issue he has with the comedian stems from the late-night host’s comments about his wife, Melania among others. In a parody segment ahead of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner last week, Jimmy called the First Lady “an expectant widow.”
The President didn’t take kindly to the joke, claiming they were a “despicable call to violence.” “Jimmy Kimmel should be immediately fired by Disney and ABC,” he added online.
The ABC host made a joke at Melania Trump’s expense
Jimmy’s latest shot at the Trump’s family may see his show go off the air permanently. That’s what President Trump is urging the network to do following the comedian’s segment against his loved ones. On his Truth Social, the POTUS thanked those that didn’t appreciate Jimmy’s segment last week.
Last year, the Emmy Award-winning host took some heat for some controversial comments made on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in the aftermath of the Charlie Kirk shooting. ABC suspended him temporarily as a result. While the show was on hiatus, insiders believed the comedian was ready to permanently sever ties with the show’s network. His late-night program, however, returned to TV shortly after.
Jimmy’s controversial segment came just days before shots rang out during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday. Law enforcement has been scrutinized after Cole Thomas Allen got into the event with several weapons. He was eventually captured after shots could be heard at Saturday’s gala.
Melania, for her part, also slammed Jimmy for the comments on his show last week, calling him a “coward.” Numerous comedians spoke up to defend Jimmy following his September suspension.
