Rudy Giuliani was rushed to the hospital over the weekend and is dealing with a serious case of pneumonia. The former Mayor of New York City has had his share of health scares in recent months. In September, he sustained cuts, bruises, and fractured his vertebrae in a car crash.
His pneumonia is said to be “overwhelming,” leading a source to share that Rudy “isn’t in good shape.” A spokesman for the 81-year-old, Ted Goodman, said that he is in “critical but stable condition.”
The former mayor is supposedly recovering
There doesn’t appear to be much optimism surrounding Rudy’s condition. A source told People that his latest hospitalization has those close to him very worried. Ted says the beloved former Mayor is currently “breathing on his own,” with his family and primary medical provider by his side. He is currently at a medical facility in Florida.
News of Rudy’s apparent worsening condition has drawn plenty of attention, including from the President. On Truth Social, Donald Trump shared how the former Mayor was in “critical condition.”
Rudy served as New York’s Mayor from 1994 to 2001, leading the city through one of its most challenging times near the end. The September 11 terrorist attacks left NYC and the world reeling. Rudy got a lot of credit for his efforts and leadership during those trying times, with Time Magazine naming him their Person of the Year for 2001. He worked as an adviser to President Trump’s 2016 White House campaign.
After his tenure as New York Mayor ended, he sought to become a New York Senator in 2000, running against future Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Rudy withdrew from the race following a prostate cancer diagnosis.
His reputation over the past few years has changed in the eyes of many. The New York University law graduate lost his law license in 2024. This came after he attempted to overturn the results of the 2020 election, in which Joe Biden defeated President Trump. The court found his arguments and statements misleading.
