Donald Trump Posts Image of Jerome Powell Falling Into Dumpster

Donald Trump took a fresh jab at Jerome Powell as he shared an AI-generated image of him falling into the dumpster on social media. He added a brief caption, which referred to the interest rates that the president has consistently criticized for being too high. This post comes amid Powell’s tenure as Fed Chair approaching its conclusion on May 15. However, in the latest briefing, Powell revealed that he’ll continue to stay and would not interrupt the transition process of Kevin Warsh, who will replace him.

Donald Trump posts edited picture of Jerome Powell

Trump recently took to Truth Social to share an edited image of Powell, where he has his hands up in the air as he seems to be about to fall into the dumpster. On top of the image, he wrote Powell’s name in black. His caption read, “Too Late” is a DISASTER for America! Interest Rates too high!”

This jab comes a few days after Trump slammed him for not leaving his seat on the Fed’s Board of Governors. He claimed, “Jerome “Too Late” Powell wants to stay at the Fed because he can’t get a job anywhere else — Nobody wants him.”

In an earlier press briefing, Powell set the record straight on why he will continue to be on the board despite his tenure coming to an end soon. Stating his reason, he further added, “I’m literally staying because of the actions that have been taken. I had long planned to be retiring. The things that have happened in the last three months, they have left me no choice but to stay until I see them through, at least that long.”

He reassured that he will keep a “low profile” as a governor and won’t interfere in Warsh’s transition into his seat. He was appointed as chair of the Federal Reserve in 2018. However, he ended up in Trump’s bad books when he refused to cut the rates as he was asked to. An investigation was also conducted into Powell over renovation costs of Fed buildings.
