Eileen Gu’s Dress Literally Blows Bubbles as She Talks at Met Gala

Eileen Gu didn’t just walk the carpet at the Met Gala; she brought it to life. The Olympic gold medalist arrived in a striking, almost surreal creation that quite literally produced bubbles as she moved through the venue. As cameras flashed and guests paused to take it in, the dress turned into one of the night’s most unexpected spectacles.

Eileen Gu arrives at Met Gala 2026 wearing a dress that makes magic

Take a look at Eileen Gu turning heads with a bubble-blowing dress at the Met Gala 2026:

The gown featured an astonishing 15,000 glass bubbles, each carefully constructed and placed as part of a design that took over 2,550 hours to complete. What made it even more unusual was the hidden technology embedded within the garment. The mechanism released bubbles continuously, transforming the dress into a living installation.

Speaking about the look, Gu revealed she was wearing a design by Iris van Herpen. The designer gained prominence for pushing the boundaries of fashion through innovation and movement. “I’m literally wearing art,” she said, clearly embracing the spirit of the evening. She went on to describe the inspiration behind the piece. Gu added that the concept focuses on “movement, nature, and being fun and whimsy.” She further stated that the bubbles acted as a playful extension of those ideas.
