Last Night, Captain Jason Chambers fired Mike Durrant from Below Deck Down Under. Throughout Season 4, Mike enjoyed riling up certain costars. He also went toe-to-toe with Daisy Kelliher, one of his superiors. But thankfully, after his departure, Mike took a beat, and when he did, he finally understood “where [he] went wrong” during filming.
Mike on his BDDU dismissal: “a long time coming…”
During Episode 14, Mike kept winding up Jenna Woudberg. He was an HOD, he said on repeat. Daisy tried to silence him. But Mike popped off at Daisy, and that cemented his fate on BDDU.
After Mike exited filming, he thankfully admitted to US Weekly that “it was a long time coming and a lot of my behavior was unacceptable. I feel like this was probably just the icing on the cake. When I had back chatted to Daisy — especially since she is someone who is a superior — and I never meant it disrespectfully,” he explained.
“When I realized what I said, I was like, ‘Oh, that was probably a bit too far.’ Especially with Daisy, who was in charge of us. Daisy made the right call,” Mike agreed. After he overstepped, Mike just knew that there “wasn’t any chance of winning the job back.”
“I hadn’t just let myself down; I had also let everyone else down,” Mike continued. “I was actually upset about how things went down,” he confessed, because “I was just having fun, and I didn’t mean any harm by it, and I was just enjoying the ride.” But when he realized that his actions left the crew “a man down,” and as a result, they had “to put the extra effort in,” Mike finally realized the gravity of this situation.
Now, Mike shared, “I don’t look back and think everything I did was correct.” Instead, Mike looks back and can actually “understand where I went wrong,” and how “I should have had a bit more of a mature approach.”
Below Deck Down Under is streaming on Peacock. BDDU airs on Mondays at 8/7c on Bravo.
