On Below Deck Down Under Season 4 Episode 17, bosun João Franco was “stuck between a rock and a hard place.” His feelings for chief stew Daisy Kelliher made him want to defend her against chef Ben Robinson. At the same time, his friendship with Ben put him in an awkward position. “Trying to navigate with two very hard-headed people, it’s a tough one,” he admitted.
But after Ben was specifically told not to sleep in the guest cabins, since they had already been prepared for incoming guests, he ignored everyone. Following the crew night out, he went directly to the primary cabin and locked himself in. However, João got a master key, went in and told Ben to “get the f*ck out.”
When last we saw them, the two pals were screaming at each other in the hallway of the guest cabins. After the dreaded “TO BE CONTINUED” message flashed on our TVs, Bravo released a sneak peak of next week’s episode.
João and Ben’s tension reaches a new breaking point in the preview
In the sneak peek of BDDU Season 4 Episode 18, the standoff continues with Ben firing off, “Go f*ck yourself, asshole!”
“Careful, Ben,” the boson warns him. With all the yelling and swearing, I’m surprised they didn’t wake Captain Jason Chambers. That scenario would definitely not be good.
“Me and João are actually friends … He should not be trying to drag me out of this guest cabin,” Ben confesses. “It’s been a really, really long season … I just want a good night’s sleep.”
Nevertheless, Daisy calls Ben’s actions “completely selfish behavior. We spend a lot of time getting those beds ready for charter, and now we have to redo all of that work.”
It’s not just selfish, it’s very disrespectful of his co-workers. “At the end of the day, we’re here to do a job,” João concludes. “If you are going to be a head of the team, you must act like a head of the team.”
