Donald Trump Blames Autocorrect for Changing Melania’s Name to ‘Melody’

Donald Trump has finally addressed why he always referred to his wife, Melania Trump, as “Melody” in his earlier tweets. The US president discussed it during a recent event, blaming the autocorrect feature for changing the name, and revealed that he eventually hired the military to fix it.

Donald Trump says he sought military’s help to fix autocorrect changing Melania’s name to Melody

Donald Trump recently honored the military mothers at the White House ahead of Mother’s Day. While acknowledging a woman named Melody in his speech, he discussed how an autocorrect feature on his machine changed his wife, Melania Trump’s name to “Melody,” which drew criticism from the press. He even revealed that the military finally helped him to deal with the feature.

“They have spell correct and word correct on these crazy machines that we use to put out truths, or they used to be called tweets,” he said at the event, per Daily Beast. Trump then went on to explain the mix-up, saying that, every time he wrote the name of the First Lady, “it would correct to Melody.”

“I work very fast, very fast,” Trump said, imitating typing. “And I’d talk about, and I’d say, ‘and Melania is fantastic. And Happy Mother’s Day, Melania, our great first lady Melania,’ but it would spell correct and word correct to Melody,” the president added. He then confessed that sometimes he “wouldn’t proofread” the text, which led to backlash. “I would get just absolutely decimated… They said ‘he didn’t know the name of his wife! He keeps calling her Melody,’” Trump stated.

Trump then admitted he “didn’t know about that little feature” on the machine, but he “got that corrected eventually.” “You know who corrected it? The military! I said, ‘come here, you got to correct this. You’re killing me,’” he revealed.
