Anna Sorokin, known to many as Anna Delvey, became famous for posing as a rich German heiress and scamming banks, hotels, and others out of hundreds of thousands of dollars. The short video, posted on Goop Kitchen’s Instagram account, openly referenced Sorokin’s current house arrest.
Dressed in a polished designer-inspired look with full glam makeup and styled hair, Sorokin answered the door to receive a Goop Kitchen delivery while wearing her court-ordered ankle monitor.
The camera deliberately highlighted the monitor before Sorokin delivered the ad’s punchline. “Can’t go out? Don’t be so dramatic,” she said while slowly closing the apartment door. The caption accompanying the video continued the joke, reading: “For when you d̶o̶n̶’̶t̶ ̶w̶a̶n̶t̶ ̶t̶o̶ can’t leave the house.” The clip quickly gained traction online, collecting thousands of likes and comments within hours.
Many commenters argued the collaboration crossed a line by turning Sorokin’s criminal history into entertainment. “We are platforming the wrong people,” one frustrated user wrote. Another commenter called the campaign “glamorizing crime,” while others described it as “distasteful” and “weird.” One angry viewer wrote, “Officially unfollowing @goopkitchen because of this ad.
