Jeff Bezos reportedly banned Jennifer Aniston’s ex, Justin Theroux, from the Met Gala. Theroux recently played Benji Barnes in “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” a billionaire tech mogul, which many people believe was a satirical portrayal of the Amazon founder. Sources say it was evident that the “Mulholland Drive” actor’s role was a satire of the entrepreneur. This did not sit well with Bezos. As per insiders, while Bezos appreciates humor, he does not like being the subject of jokes, particularly when it involves himself or his wife, Lauren Sanchez Bezos.
Jeff Bezos has quietly iced Justin Theroux out of the Met Gala, claims source
Jeff Bezos reportedly banned the entry of Justin Theroux from the Met Gala. Theroux played the role of a billionaire tech figure in the film “The Devil Wears Prada 2.” He is said to have portrayed a satirical version of Bezos. The Amazon founder reportedly did not appreciate this at all.
An insider told Rob Shuter of #ShuterScoop, “Justin’s character is Jeff, plain and simple.” They claimed that Bezos has “zero sense of humor” when jokes involve him or his wife, Lauren Sanchez Bezos, though he is reportedly fine with humor about other topics. According to the source, if someone makes jokes about them, they are “done.”
As per reports, Bezos was not pleased at all when he learned that Theroux portrayed a satirical version of him, alongside Emily Blunt. Her character is said to be based on Lauren.
Another insider shared, “Jeff did not find it funny.” They continued, “Not the parody, not the performance, not the Lauren angle — none of it. And once Jeff was offended, Justin was never getting through that door.”
Even Anna Wintour, the driving force behind the Met Gala, who oversees guest lists and other important details of fashion’s biggest night, reportedly could not change the decision of not inviting Theroux. The source said, “Anna follows power, and this year power came with Jeff’s money. Jeff paid too much to be mocked in his own room.”
