Kate Middleton and Prince William’s kids had the honour of naming a baby kangaroo, and they picked the cutest name possible. The baby kangaroo in question is the newest addition to the Irwin family’s Australia Zoo. Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis together chose a sweet name for the kangaroo.
Kate Middleton and Prince William’s kids chose this name for baby kangaroo at Australia Zoo
On May 7, the official Instagram page for Robert Irwin Photography announced that Kate Middleton and Prince William’s kids have named the newest eastern grey kangaroo joey. It was a joint post with the Prince and Princess of Wales’ handle. The young royals picked the name “Cwtch”, which is pronounced as “Kutch” and means “cuddle” in Welsh. Robert Irwin gave a shout-out to the kids in his video.
“G’Day! It’s Robert Irwin here with a couple of my mates. This is, of course, the icon of Australia, the kangaroo, and I’m very proud to announce that my friends, the Wales family, helped us to name our beautiful new joey,” the 22-year-old said as he played in the grass with Cwtch, her mother, and another kangaroo.
The Dancing With The Stars alum explained that Cwtch was the perfect name for the baby kangaroo, as they spend most of their time in their mother’s pouch and “love a cuddle.” He continued, “I want to say a particular thank-you to Prince George, Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte for your help in finding this one a brilliant name.”
Below the clip, another member of the Irwin family, Terri Irwin, wrote, “So special.” Fans filled the comments with love and praise for Cwtch and the British royal family. Terri is the mother of Robert and his sister, Bindi.
For those unversed, the Irwin family runs the Australia Zoo. Notably, Robert Irwin is the ambassador for Prince William’s Earthshot Prize (via PEOPLE). It is a prestigious global competition driving positive environmental change through a decade-long initiative.
