For many Swifties, meeting Taylor Swift feels like the ultimate dream. One longtime fan recently reflected on her experience meeting the singer and revealed the surprising lesson she took away. After attending one of Swift’s exclusive Secret Sessions years ago, the fan said the interaction completely changed how she viewed celebrities. Nearly a decade later, she still remembers the encounter as one of the most “surreal” moments of her life.

Olivia Levin, now 26, has been part of the Taylor Swift fandom since her early teens. She reportedly started running fan pages dedicated to the singer when she was 14, posting updates and connecting with other Swift fans online. Just a few years later, Levin claimed she received an invitation that many fans could only imagine: a spot at one of Swift’s Secret Sessions.
According to Levin, the event took place in 2017 at Swift’s Rhode Island home during the lead-up to the release of “Reputation.” Selected fans were reportedly invited to hear the album before it officially dropped and to spend time with the pop star in a more intimate setting. Levin recalled feeling completely “starstruck” at first, especially as a teenager meeting someone she had admired for years.
Still, she said the experience quickly became less intimidating once she interacted with Swift directly. “My biggest takeaway that day,” Levin shared per PEOPLE, “I’m like, ‘Wow, she’s just a person.’”. She explained that celebrities can often seem untouchable when fans only see them through social media, interviews, and performances. But according to Levin, meeting Swift in person made her realize how normal and approachable the pop artist seemed.
Levin also said the “Opalite” singer “exceeded her expectations” during the gathering. Fans allegedly listened to tracks from “Reputation” while Swift explained the stories and emotions behind certain songs. Levin further claimed that Swift’s family helped create a welcoming atmosphere throughout the event.
Although Levin said she has come close to meeting Swift again at public events over the years, she prefers not to push for another interaction. Instead, she said she wants to respect the Grammy-winner’s personal space and let any future meeting happen naturally. “If it’s meant to happen, then it’ll happen,” Levin adds.
