Jake Paul, the YouTube star-turned-prizefighter who brought increased attention to celebrity matchups in the ring, is now raising questions about whether he’s done with boxing. Paul recently updated fans on his jaw injury and, without confirming a decision, his tone suggested that he’s rethinking his next steps.
Jake Paul’s new jaw injury update is concerning for boxing future
Jake Paul’s latest comments on his ongoing jaw injury suggest his future in professional boxing may be at risk.
On The Ariel Helwani Show, Paul said that injuries from his bout with Anthony Joshua may have ended his fighting career. That fight also left him with a broken jaw in late 2025.
“I’m getting some new scans here in a couple of days of the jaw to get an update on the healing process. We’ll see what my doctors say,” the 29-year-old boxer said.
“I think I’ll be able to get a more accurate time frame or you know…can I even fight again? That is definitely in the realm of possibilities of things. It does like feel a lot better as weeks go by and time goes by, but I definitely need to get cleared first to be able to spar, but I’m sort of staying in shape…I’m always in the gym pretty much regardless,” he added.
In response to whether his time in the ring might be over, Jake Paul stated, ” Yeah. No, most definitely. I think it just depends on how the bone heals. And then also there’s a tooth missing here. I’m pretty sure I’m going to have to get an implanted tooth of some sort. I don’t know how much time that’s going to add to things, but we just have to see and figure out what the smartest thing is for me.”
The influencer also addressed whether he’s done enough in the ring to retire. Sharing his thoughts, Paul said he still has more fights ahead and unfinished business to settle.
When asked if anyone wants him to quit, Paul revealed that his doctor, Arman, doesn’t want him to fight again.
