Meghan Markle Had a ‘Disneyland Profile’ of Royal Family — Experts

Questions surrounding Meghan Markle and her experience within the royal family continue to spark debate years after she and Prince Harry stepped back from royal duties. Now, royal commentators are revisiting the challenges Meghan reportedly faced after marrying into the monarchy in 2018.

According to experts, the Duchess of Sussex may have entered royal life with expectations that did not fully align with reality. Some even claim she viewed the institution through what they described as a “Disneyland profile.”

Meghan Markle didn’t find royal life ‘not glamorous’ enough, per experts

Royal experts speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive podcast claimed Meghan Markle struggled with the less glamorous side of royal life. Commentator Samara Gill reportedly said Meghan had a “Disneyland profile” of the monarchy before joining the family. According to Gill, that image may have shaped Meghan’s expectations early on.

However, experts claimed the reality of royal life was much more demanding. Gill reportedly described it as “not as glamorous as the Disney fairytale.” Instead, she says, royal life involved strict routines, constant public attention, and formal traditions. The experts suggested that adjustment may have been difficult for Meghan after years of working in Hollywood.

At the same time, the panel discussed how royal women have tried to modernize their roles over the years. Gill pointed to the late Princess Diana as an example. She claimed Diana wanted more freedom and pushed against traditional expectations inside the monarchy. “I think the Diana years were where you have that sort of chasm between old and new,” she said. According to Gill, Diana preferred a more independent lifestyle and did not want to remain confined to palace rules.

Meanwhile, the experts suggested Catherine, Princess of Wales, adapted differently. They claimed Kate had a stronger understanding of royal culture before marrying into the family. As a result, commentators believe she handled the pressures of royal life with more patience. Meghan, on the other hand, was said to have found the transition more challenging.

The discussion also touched on Meghan and Harry’s eventual exit from royal duties in 2020. Experts alleged the pressures of royal life may have played a role in that decision. Today, Meghan and Harry live in California, where they continue to focus on media projects, public appearances, and life outside the monarchy.
