There’s a lot of regret being shown towards Hayden Panettiere. That regret is being shared by her ex-boyfriend, who was blasted in her tell-all memoir. Hayden outlines her relationship with Brian Hickerson in the book This Is Me: A Reckoning. She claims to have been the victim of domestic abuse numerous times.
Hayden says the two dated from 2018 to 2022 on and off. Brian went to jail in 2021, spending 45 days locked up while ordered to stay away from her for five years. He weighed in on the novel and how he feels about her today.
Brian Hickerson didn’t want the story included in the book

It’s a part of his life he wishes had remained hidden. In an interview with TMZ, Brian discussed one of the darkest moments from Hayden’s memoir. There’s a passage which details a time he was drunk and reportedly said to her, “I’ll give you 10 seconds to run as fast as you can before I throw it at you.” He confessed, “Who wants to read something about themselves like that,” while also admitting, “I did it. I did it.”
Brian was arrested multiple times during their toxic relationship. He admits that he still thinks about what might have been with her and potentially marrying the Nashville actress. Admittedly, though, he thinks they might not have been good together.
Hayden’s book dishes out plenty of explosive moments from her life, many of which were new news to the public. One had to do with her relationship with Milo Ventimiglia from Heroes. She admits that, when they were together, she thought it might lead to marriage at one point.
Brian says that he’d requested that infamous chapter about him be omitted from the book altogether. In the end, it made the cut, and he’s owning it. It might not have been what he wanted, but nonetheless, Brian believes some positives can come from that. He believes that anyone accused of domestic abuse should be able to confront these stories head-on.
