Revenge of the Nerds Actor Donald Gibb Passes Away at 71

Donald Gibb, best known for his role in the “Revenge of the Nerds film series, has passed away at the age of 71. He played the hulking and dimwitted but lovable fraternity brother, Ogre, in the cult-favorite franchise. Gibb passed away surrounded by his family at his Texas home, per his son, who broke the news to TMZ. The actor also boasts several other prominent credits to his name.

Donald Gibb, the actor known for portraying the hulking fraternity brother Ogre in the “Revenge of the Nerds” film series, passed away at 71, reportedly after a long illness.

His son, Travis, shared the news with TMZ. Travis revealed that Gibb passed away surrounded by his loving family members. Travis also said that his father “loved the Lord and his family, friends, and fans with all his heart.” He also requested prayers and privacy for the family.

Apart from his cult favorite roles in the “Revenge of the Nerds” film series, Gibb was also known for playing Kumite fighter Ray Jackson in “Bloodsport” and Leslie “Dr. Death” Krunchner on the HBO sitcom “1st & Ten”.

Born in New York City and raised in California, Gibb originally pursued a career in sports. He attended the University of New Mexico on a basketball scholarship before transferring to the University of San Diego, where he played football on scholarship.

However, an automobile accident ended this dream, and Gibb pivoted to acting. After making uncredited appearances in films like Stripes and Conan the Barbarian, Gibb made a mark with his role in Revenge of the Nerds. He went on to appear in the next two installments of the film as well.

Gibb also made other notable appearances in films like” Lost in America” (1985), “U.S. Marshals” (1998), and “Hancock” (2008).

The news of Gibb’s passing comes months after the passing of his “Revenge of the Nerds” co-star Robert Carradine.
