The White House is defending more claims of fatigue surrounding Donald Trump. It has been alleged on many occasions during his second term that the President may be dozing off during press conferences or behind closed doors during meetings. That notion has often been scoffed at by those working for the President and President Trump himself.
The explanations only seem to be making the public increasingly suspicious about his condition. Recent footage showed the POTUS with his eyes closed in the Oval Office while those around him continued making remarks. The White House’s aggressive response doesn’t appear to have helped the President’s cause.
The White House has explained why President Trump is often spotted “sleeping”
It is far from the first time the President’s condition has been questioned. At 79 and over a year into his second term, he has often been alleged to be “sleeping.” A photo captured by Reuters this week showing the President’s eyes completely closed seems to imply fatigue.
The White House’s X account, Rapid Response 47, quickly replied, “He was blinking, you absolute moron.” What is interesting is that there was no mention of him sleeping, only a photo of his eyes shut, while it was noted that he was attending a maternal health event.
Plenty of times in his second term, the President appears to have been caught napping. One of his political adversaries, California Governor Gavin Newsom, made fun of this online in April, saying the POTUS is “asleep at the wheel.”
The President has always insisted that he’s in perfect condition. He’s noted how he’s aced numerous cognitive tests. He has admitted he closes his eyes at times because it’s “very relaxing.”
Numerous viral videos and reports seem to contradict his claims, however. In July, he appeared to struggle to stay awake during a healthcare discussion led by Dr. Mehmet Oz.
In May of last year, he seemed to doze off during his hush money trial. He was also seen stumbling up the stairs of Air Force One last July.
