‘Digital Evidence’ Currently Leading Nancy Guthrie Investigation According to Sheriff: ‘Focus Is on the Tip’

More than 100 days since the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, mother of NBC News anchor Savannah Guthrie, Sheriff Chris Nanos says the investigation is ongoing and hinges on digital evidence.

Nanos mentions that his team is currently reviewing “thousands and thousands” of digital evidence files and “getting closer” to the truth with additional help from DNA and forensic analysis.

Digital evidence is crucial in locating Nancy Guthrie, says Sheriff Chris Nanos

The ongoing investigation claims to be building a digital map to trace Guthrie’s last activities before she was believed to have been abducted from her house in Tucson. Investigators have reportedly uncovered doorbell footage showing a masked man approaching her door on the day of her disappearance.

Nanos stresses that the numerous tips that he is receiving will help investigators close in on a possible suspect. “There’s thousands and thousands of videos out there from intersections and Ring cameras that we have to catalog,” Nanos explains, going on to say that they are making meticulous catalogs of digital evidence to ultimately identify patterns that may expose the culprit.

Nanos also elaborates on DNA clues, which may prove to be game changers in the ongoing investigation. Nanos clarifies that the department and the FBI have been jointly working on the case, and no stone is being left unturned.

Among intensifying public concerns, Nanos remains reassuring, “This is just like any other case. Sometimes you solve them within hours or days. Sometimes it takes a long time.” Meanwhile, the Guthrie family has announced a $1 million reward for any information leading to the recovery of the missing person. According to the FBI, they have received over 13,000 tips to date.

When asked about their thoughts regarding the investigation, Savannah Guthrie said, “people are working tirelessly,” but “we need answers. We cannot be at peace without knowing.”
