Just weeks after getting a thoughtful present from King Charles III, Donald Trump has received a one-of-a-kind gift from President Xi Jinping, following his much-discussed trip to China. Trump seems to have thoroughly enjoyed the scenery of the Zhongnanhai Garden during his visit. This prompted the Chinese leader to send a set of rose seeds to his American counterpart.
Donald Trump receives rose seeds from President Xi
Last Friday, on the last day of his three-day visit to China, the POTUS accompanied the country’s leader to the Zhongnanhai Garden. There, the beauty of the fauna reportedly took him aback.
“These are the most beautiful roses anyone’s ever seen! I asked the President, ‘Could you get me some for the Rose Garden?’ and he said yes. I’ve never seen roses so big!” Donald Trump told President Xi Jinping, as per The Mirror.
In response, Jinping promised to send some rose seeds Trump’s way. “We will provide the President with some of our Chinese rose (Rosa chinensis) seeds, as he wants to plant some in the rose garden,” he told the visiting US president, via a translator.
The Chinese President also provided Trump with a history lesson regarding the 1500-acre compound. “After the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949, we have been here, including Chinese leaders: Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin, Hu Jintao, and so on,” he noted.
Xi Jinping further added, “One of them is 490 years old. In other places within this compound, there have been trees that have lived to be over 1,000 years old. The President was interested in learning all about that, including the Chinese roses, which we looked at. And I’ve agreed to send the seeds for these roses to the President as a gift.”
Notably, the set of rose seeds is the second unique gift Donald Trump has received from a fellow world leader in a month. Previously, King Charles III presented him with an original bell from a World War II-era submarine.
