Trump Mobile’s T1 Phone Resembles Chinese-Made Budget Handset & Internet Isn’t Happy

The long-awaited release of Donald Trump’s Gold T1 phone has drawn criticism, allegedly because it looks similar to a Chinese-made budget phone despite Trump Mobile initially promoting it as American-made. The revelation has garnered a wide range of reactions from the internet.

After months of delays and a lack of clear updates, Trump Mobile handed out a few pieces of Donald Trump’s T1 phone, but mainly to the media. NBC recently obtained Trump’s T1 phone and noted that it works just like any other Android phone and even has the Truth Social app pre-installed.

The network later interviewed an expert, who said the phone might be similar to the HTC U24 Pro. The expert also claimed that the US is not “set up” to make a mid-range phone at $499, which is the price of T1.

Moreover, Brian Cheung, the NBC journalist who reviewed the phone, pointed out that the phone’s box read “Proudly Assembled in the USA.” He added that the phone’s parts could have been made overseas, but ultimately assembled in the United States.

Cheung also said that the American flag on the back has only 11 horizontal stripes instead of 13. But he suspected that the text “Trump Mobile” beneath the flag could work as the 13th stripe.

The review and the expert’s comments have surprised many people, as Trump Mobile initially announced that the phone would be made entirely in the United States. However, in the last few months, the company quietly updated the website to say “American-Proud Design.”

Users on X (formerly Twitter) expressed disappointment with how the phone turned out. One user wrote, “They ‘assembled’ a Chinese phone into a cardboard box.”

A second user commented, “MAGA will now argue that they prefer things that are not made in the USA.”

“‘Proudly assembled.’ How ridiculous. Couldn’t even get the American flag right either,” replied a third user.

Another user said, “It’s a Chinese-made phone with actual value max $30. It’s only ‘touched’ in USA to make you feel like it’s ‘assembled’ in the USA. It’s not. For the price you’re paying, it’s like buying a 3-year-old Chinese car packaged as a USA and overpriced.”
