Donald Trump makes claims about ballroom
Speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Donald Trump shared new details about the ongoing construction of his White House ballroom project. The president detailed the security features of the bunker-like structure, with special emphasis on the roof (via Reuters).
Trump revealed the installation of a drone base on the roof of the structure that is “set up for unlimited numbers of drones.” The POTUS said, “The entire roof is built for military,” before making some unexpected claims about its efficiency.
“They have a massive drone capacity,” Trump said, adding, “Not only is it drone-proof, if a drone hits it, it bounces off, it won’t have any impact. But it’s also meant as a drone port that would protect all of Washington.” The president further revealed that the roof will be constructed of “impenetrable steel.”
Trump shared that there will be a six-storey subterranean complex underneath the ballroom that would include a military hospital and research facilities. However, the president or the White House has not given any details regarding the field of research.
Trump also claimed that the new titanium fencing around the ballroom is extremely strong, saying that even “a bulldozer cannot knock it over.” Furthermore, the windows of the ballroom would be made 10 cm thick using a special kind of glass. “You can see through it as though it doesn’t exist,” Trump said.
Defending the project, Trump stated that the $400 million ballroom plan is financed by him and other donors. “This is not going to be paid for by the taxpayer,” the POTUS said, adding, “This is a gift to the United States of America” (via South China Morning Post). He also stated that the ballroom is being constructed “in strict coordination” with the US Secret Service and the military.
