Donna Kelce may be one of the most recognizable moms in football, but when it comes to being a grandmother, she follows one simple rule: show up. The mother of NFL stars Jason and Travis Kelce recently opened up about family life and shared why she prioritizes visiting her grandchildren whenever possible.
Jason Kelce’s mom Donna always ‘shows up’ for his and Kylie’s daughters: ‘Go visit them’
While speaking with “People” about her new partnership with GameChanger and the launch of her sports-themed “Gran Cave,” Donna revealed that being present for Jason Kelce and Kylie Kelce’s four daughters, Wyatt, Elliotte, Bennett, and baby Finnley, matters more than anything.
Donna explained that one of the biggest lessons she has learned as a grandparent is that grandparents should make the effort to travel rather than expecting children and grandchildren to come to them. “I try to show up,” she said, adding that asking busy families to rearrange their lives can become an unnecessary burden.
She shared that grandparents should avoid saying, “Why don’t you come to my house?” and instead make the trip themselves. “If you want to see your kids, go visit them. Quit telling them, ‘Why don’t you come to my house?’ No, go visit,” she said.
Donna emphasized that making the effort is her way of showing her grandchildren how much she cares. She acknowledged that not everyone can travel easily, but noted that she feels fortunate to be able to do so.
Elsewhere in the interview, Donna also spoke about watching her son, Travis Kelce, bond with Jason and Kylie’s daughters. She described seeing her grown sons interact with children as “very heartwarming,” adding that Travis becomes the fun uncle during family time.
According to Donna, Travis loves being around kids and creates a playful atmosphere with his nieces, something she previously highlighted during a 2023 interview. From playful couch moments to family visits, Donna seems determined to stay close, one trip at a time.
