Reality TV Show Officially Canceled After 12 Years

A long-running Australian reality show is getting the axe. Network 10’s focus going forward is on offering audiences a wider range of content. As such, they made the difficult decision of pulling the plug on a program that had been a staple of its lineup for years.

The network recently explained how they arrived at that decision while also discussing what will happen to the show’s co-hosts.

There had been rumors circling the show was on the brink of being axed earlier this month.

The Australian version of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here will not be a part of the Channel 10 lineup Down Under next year. In a statement revealed by news.com.au, a spokesperson for the network said: “We have made the decision to rest I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! in 2027 as we focus on offering our audience a range of content on all platforms.” While it isn’t coming back next year, that statement suggests the show could in the future.

As for the co-hosts of that program, Julia Morris and Robert Irwin, the network isn’t severing ties with them. “We look forward to working with (current hosts) Julia Morris and Robert Irwin on other projects,” the statement continued.

The show follows a group of well-known personalities in the jungle. Either the viewer votes or the challenges determine which celebrity goes home each week. In the end, the winner walked away with $100,000, which they’d donate to a charity of their choosing.

Throughout its 12 seasons on the air, the show had earned its share of accolades, including numerous Logie Award nominations for Best Reality Program. Robert will host Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro. He won the previous season of Dancing with the Stars alongside Witney Carson.
