Late-Night Donald Trump Posting Spree Features Controversial Iran Meme

President Donald Trump shared a meme mocking Barack Obama’s Iran policy during a late-night posting spree. The cartoon appeared hours after the military struck Iranian missile sites and boats in the Gulf.

His Truth Social activity further included reposting footage from a recent event in Delhi, Memorial Day tributes, and boasts about the renovated Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. The stream of content continued for nearly an hour before he published the Iran-themed illustration.

Donald Trump’s new post includes Barack Obama mention

The cartoon depicted two contrasting approaches to Iran. One panel labelled “Obama’s Iran Policy” showed a stack of cash. The second panel, titled “Trump’s Iran Policy,” showed a US warship intercepting Iranian missiles. The post did not include additional commentary from the president.

Donald Trump has repeatedly invoked Barack Obama’s 2015 nuclear agreement as a foil during his current negotiations with Tehran. “If I make a deal with Iran, it will be a good and proper one, not like the one made by Obama, which gave Iran massive amounts of CASH, and a clear and open path to a Nuclear Weapon,” he wrote on Sunday. He acknowledged that his alternative arrangement remains incomplete, stating, “It isn’t even fully negotiated yet.”

Moreover, Trump’s new post aligned with a new military escalation. Capt. Tim Hawkins, a spokesperson for US Central Command, confirmed earlier on Monday that American forces had conducted strikes against Iranian targets in “self-defense.” According to a senior US official, the operation involved sinking two vessels belonging to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that were laying mines in strategic waterways (via The Wall Street Journal).

When Iranian forces responded by firing surface-to-air missiles at US warplanes, American units struck a launch site near Bandar Abbas, a port city along the Strait of Hormuz. The White House declined to comment directly on the strikes, referring questions to CENTCOM’s official statement.

However, earlier on Monday, before the strikes became public, Donald Trump had characterised the diplomatic talks as “proceeding nicely.” He has not given subsequent remarks about the military action.
