Prince William Urges King Charles To Abdicate — Source

Prince William is reportedly being more insistent in urging King Charles, 77, to step down from the throne and focus on his health issues.

Following a cancer diagnosis in 2024, an ailing King Charles wants to continue his reign for the foreseeable future, following the example of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. Queen Camilla, 78, also seems concerned about her husband’s health and hectic work schedule.

Does Prince William want King Charles to step down to care for his health?

King Charles, however, doesn’t seem interested in relinquishing the throne and will continue to manage the Windsor legacy to the end.

The tension between the monarch and the heir seems to go beyond the question of the throne. While King Charles remains open to maintaining relations with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, his son has expressed that he will have nothing to do with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Prince William also remains firm on cutting off Prince Andrew following his connection to the Jeffrey Epstein files, while King Charles has a softer approach towards the disgraced royal.

The father and son disagree over the king’s meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, who had earlier expressed dissatisfaction with the U.K. government, citing a lack of support for the America-led armada to open the strategic Strait of Hormuz off Iran’s coast. Royal expert Duncan Larcombe observed, “Donald Trump is openly criticizing the prime minister, which is something that Charles hasn’t had to cope with before.”

Larcombe also said that the king is likely to continue his royal duties despite the pressure of abdication, saying, “I would say this: If he felt he could not carry out his duties because of ill health, and if he feels that his health was in any way affecting his position, then he would not necessarily look to stand down.”
