As part of a new documentary called Doc Meets World, Will Friedle and Danielle Fishel opened up about their estranged relationship with Ben Savage. The People interview published on June 3 is tied to this documentary’s release.
Savage was reportedly slated to be the fourth co-host on “Pod Meets World” but decided to opt out.

Savage has reportedly stopped talking to “Boy Meets World” castmates, including Will Friedle, who played his brother on the show, and has also not connected with Danielle Fishel, who played Savage’s on-screen romantic interest on the show.
“Doc Meets World” is an 86-minute feature documentary premiering at the 2026 Tribeca Festival. It follows Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle, and Rider Strong reuniting 30 years after “Boy Meets World” for their rewatch podcast and national tour. Ben Savage has “ghosted” and continued to distance himself from the crew, who appear to be disappointed that he is not part of their lives anymore.
The co-stars have not found the reason behind Savage’s complete withdrawal, and Friedle is still trying to reach out to his friend. He said Savage just “disappeared — I wish I knew why, to this day,” Friedle told Variety at the time. “We didn’t have a fight. There’s no falling out. There was no animosity. He just woke up one day, and decided ‘I don’t want this person in my life anymore.’”
In the meantime, Savage married Tessa Angermeier and had a daughter in November 2025. Fishel commented that she loves to imagine Savage as a husband and father, and laments that she can’t be part of his “milestones.”
Moreover, Savage had gone on to launch a political career, first running for a seat on the West Hollywood City Council in 2022 and then running as a Democrat for California’s 30th Congressional District in 2024. Both runs were unsuccessful.
